Marina Beach Improvements

LHR Marina Beach ToiletsThere have been improvements to the Marina del Este Beach in La Herradura with new facilities added, explained the Councillor for Tourism and Beaches.

With an investment of some 30,000 euros, the beach now sports a lifeguard’s watchtower and a bathroom on the beach – a relief for the staff at the Chiringuito Marina del Este as beachgoers always wanted to use their bathrooms.

Soon to be added will be a ramp down onto the beach to improve access for those with mobility problems. Furthermore, the beach toilets also take into account people with mobility problems. He pointed out that just the lifeguard post cost around 11,000 euros.

Councillor Daniel Barbero said, “the services and improvements that we have put into place on this beach are a big step forward in so much as safety and quality,” adding that the beach was very popular both with beachgoers and divers from the nearby diving school, especially when the sea currents are coming from the west.

But this is not the only lifeguard watchtower than has been erected in the municipality because the Junta has provided three for La Herradura, one on Playa San Cristóbal, one on Puerta de Mar and another on Playa Velilla, near Playa de El Tesorillo.
