The Chairman of the Asociación de Germanos Hablantes de Almuñécar y La Herradura, Ueli Amstad, handed over a donation of 1,000 euros to the local parish charity, Cáritas.
The Parish priest, Vicente Guerrero, gratefully received the donation and thanked the members of the German-speaking club for their generosity and collaboration with the Corona 5 charity programme.
Herr Ueli Amstad explained that their membership had realised that they had spent very little during the lockdown and could help the less fortunate in the municipality with just a 5-euro donation from each member. The response amongst them was overwhelming and far exceeded the amount expected.
“We have a piggy bank called Cerdito Corona,” explained the Chairman, and it was not the first time the piggy bank was used in a campaign for funds – their previous campaign had be on behalf of the Asociación de Madres Solas Marisa Sendón in Almuñécar
Father Vicente explained that Cáritas Parroquial de Almuñécar is attending to the needs of some 300 families at the moment and was therefore very grateful for this help from the local German community.
