The Almuñécar-based Guardia Civil arrested a young Moroccan individual twice in just 24 hours, for snatching a handbag and stealing two mobile phones.
The 18-year-old man, who was arrested around 01:15h on Monday the 11th, is of no fixed abode and has no criminal record in Spain. At the time of his first arrest, he was accompanied by two other Moroccans aged 21 and 20, in an abandoned building, who were also arrested.
The police searched the building and found a handbag with four mobile phones in it and a woman’s ID documents.
Subsequent investigation uncovered that they had mugged a couple out walking, which is where the handbag came from, but the phones were taken from one victim on Friday night and another from a young man on Saturday. The other two phones belonged to the previously mentioned couple.
The day after the arrest, in the early hours of Tuesday, the 18-year old was arrested again near the Paseo del Altillo. At 23.30h the previous evening he had approached a man asking for money “to get something to eat.” When the man got his wallet out, he was pushed to the ground and his wallet stolen.
A Guardia patrol soon found the culprit and found the stolen money on him.
