Coastal Repairs Disappointment

ALM VelillaIt now seems that the four municipalities on the Costa Tropical will have to share a less-than-expected sum for coastal, storm-damage repairs.

The Central Government has decided to provide 847,000 euros to put right the extensive damage to the beaches of Velilla (Almuñécar), La Herradura, La Charca (Salobreña), Playa del Rincón (Castell) and La Rábita. Almuñécar and La Herradura, that all, remember, belong to the same municipality.

The Plan Litoral 2015, belonging to the Ministry of Farming, Food and the Environment, encompasses repairing recent storm damages to beaches, as well as protecting against future storm action by building breakwaters.

The said plan has a total budget of 21.5m euros for the whole of the Spanish coastline

Within Andalucia, the province of Granada has been allotted 847,000 euros, whereas Almería, for example, will receive almost 6m euros, because a greater amount of damage was caused.

Huelva, on the other hand, will only see 60,000 euros because there was only one beach, La Antilla, that was seriously eroded.
