Safer Beaches

The Mancomunidad has spent 100,000 euros on marking out the beach approach lanes, from the sea, for boats and other sea craft; we’re talking about the lanes marked out by twin lines of buoys that indicate the only place that you can beach or launch a boat from.

The marked off bathing areas are essential for the safety of beach users – we have all heard the horror stories up swimmers being chewed up by the propellers of small leisure craft.

The company, Colmare Ibérica, won the contract to lay all the buoys between Calahonda and La Herradura, with a budget of 100,000 euros. As for who is financing the task, the Junta gave a grant that covered 60% in 2010, which had fallen to 22% last summer – this year it is not clear whether the Junta will contribute anything.
