The Nerja Branch of the Royal British Legion has now finished counting the contents of 45 poppy collection boxes, that have been in place in various bars and restaurants in and around Nerja. The amount raised is in excess of €2,000.
Those of you who met our Poppy Appeal Organiser, Dorothy Allen, outside one of the supermarkets or at the weekly markets, will be interested to know that she alone collected €903. Well done Dorothy!
The total amount raised by the Nerja Branch, which includes a number of other fundraising events including the Annual Poppy Ball and a sponsored walk was a magnificent €6,120.
The Branch committee would like to thank those bars and restaurants that allowed them to place boxes in their premises, but especially all those who donated so generously to this very worthy cause.
All proceeds will go into the worldwide Poppy Appeal fund which enables the Royal British Legion to continue providing support for British servicemen and women, past and present, and their families.
