Conscious of the floods in Valencia and in the north of the province of Granada, Motril Town Hall has been active in collaboration with the local fire service to check that rainwater courses are prepared.
It seems that all along the Costa Tropical locals are complaining about the ‘sand’ being used to regenerate beaches that have suffered from wind & wave erosion.
Regional MP, Carmen Crespo, said during a visit to Motril that the Junta would spend 700,000 euros on clearing vegetation from the ramblas and rivers.
After the first rains, beaches at the mouths of numerous ramblas were strewn with cane and other vegetation. Such was the case with Playa Granada in Motril, for example.
The Motril Councillor for Agriculture, Gloria Chica, announced on the 17th that the Rambla de las Brujas had been cleared, just days before rains coming.
The Spokeswoman for the PP in Motril, Luisa Mª García Chamorro, announced that if the ramblas weren’t cleared this week, her party would take legal action against the Junta.
Before the week is out, the Junta de Andalucia has promised to start clearing out the storm beds, riverbeds and gullies along the Costa Tropical.
The Junta de Andalucía is going to spend 280,000 euros on clearing out the abundant vegetation in the dry riverbeds (ramblas).
