Checking Ramblas for Obstructions

Conscious of the floods in Valencia and in the north of the province of Granada, Motril Town Hall has been active in collaboration with the local fire service to check that rainwater courses are prepared.

This is, after all, what town halls along the coast should be doing but in November rather than February but… algo es algo.

Motril Town Hall issued a press release saying that fire personnel were checking that there were no obstructions in the ramblas.

Fire Chief Emilio López personally had a look at the Rambla de los Álamos, which is one of the main water-evacuation channels that runs through the town.

“After the DANA [prolonged cloud bursts] we decided to check the main ramblas, such as Los Álamos and soon it will be the turn of La Rambla de la Bruja,” he explained, adding, “We want to check that there is no rubbish other obstructions.”

By “rubbish” he was probably referring to shopping carts, tyres and even old fridges, etc.

Motril has quite a few ramblas (wadis) some of which have been paved over and are now streets, such as the Rambla de Capuchinos, Calle Catalanes or the Rambla del Manjón.
