Unfair Competition?

Many town halls in the last 20 years have spent a lot of money on public services, creating sports facilities and kindergartens, to name but just two. Although the intention is genuine in its object of making the life of citizens richer in social facilities, sometimes such ideas inadvertently create unfair competition with the public sector.

Temporary Chiringuito Controversy

The Almuñécar Town Hall has granted two temporary chiringuito licences; one on San Cristóbal and the other in La Herradura. These temporary licences are valid only for the summer. They have also given licences to two bars in La Herradura to have outside terrace areas. However, some local business owners are not happy with the ‘competition.’

Midnight Shopping Success

Just about everyone that we have spoken to has considered that Almuñécar’s Jazz Night Shopping was a great success, so much so that a new date is already being set. One shop owner in Calle Real said that she had sold more in just that one night than in the last month.

Funkdación Fills Altillo

Granada-based funk band, Funkdación, filled the Paseo del Altillo this weekend past with their repertoire of Jazz-Funk-Soul. The group, whose lead singer is American Damon Robinson, also comprises of Andrew Lynch (Sax), David Margam (Guitar), Fran Romero (Drums), Emilio Berrocal (Keyboards) and Alfonso Alcalá (Bass).

New Motril Ferry Destination

Motril port will soon be running a direct ferry line to Morocco, as well as to the Spanish, North African enclave city of Melilla.
