Three more firemen were sworn into the department after the selection process was completed, bringing the Almuñécar, Fire-Service staff up to a total of fifteen.
The Mayor, the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Juan José Ruiz Joya, and the Fire Department Chief, Francisco Sáez Díaz, as well as the Municipal Secretary, Ildefonso Cobo Navarrete, witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
However, the Publisher of the Seaside Gazette ran into one of the hopefuls for the posts somewhere in inland Granada (we’re being deliberately vague for obvious reasons) and he assured the Publisher that the whole selection process was a farce, or as they say in Spanish, un tongo (rigged). We are waiting for proof of this from the said person because until proven otherwise, it is only his opinion; the opinion of one of the 400 aspirants for the three posts.
We’ll keep you informed and if anything substantial to back this claim comes up, we will approach the Mayor with it. But unless something of this nature is provided, the selection process is reported by the Seaside Gazette as 100% legitimate.
