Problems at the Sunday Market?

According to the Convergencia Andaluza (headed by Councillor Benavides) the Almuñécar Sunday-morning flea market is ‘out of control.’

A press release from the CA claims that brand new articles are being sold, rather than second-hand ones, thanks to a complete lack of police control.

Clothes, handbags, belts, gift articles, pottery, plants and other items are being sold, despite not being second hand, which demonstrates, consider the CA, the Mayor, Trinidad Herrera’s lack of control.

The CA concludes that owing to this laxity in controlling what is being sold, has turned the Sunday flea market into just another Friday-morning market, whereas, they point out, the Sunday markets are bound to exclusively second hand items being sold by private individuals and not traders.

For the above reason the CA demands that the Mayor clamps down and stops the Sunday markets becoming unfair competition for established businesses.
