The inhabitants of Motril had a nasty surprise yesterday because there was no water to be had coming out of their taps in many areas of the town.
In the early hours of yesterday in Almuñécar the town lost its mains water supply. According to the utilities company, Aguas y Servicios, the problem began around six in the morning when the system that maintains water pressure began to fail.
A mains failure in the Velilla/Taramay area of Almuñécar on Tuesday afternoon left the area with not a drop of water for several hours.
There has been sewage running down a Motril rambla that leads to Playa Azucena, next to the port. This situation has persisted for at least a fortnight.
