Tarmacking work has been underway in La Herradura between Las Palomas to the Peña Parda end of the bay.
This resurfacing work comes after the completion of pipe-laying work beneath, which was financed by the Mancomunidad.
The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, explained that the resurfacing work between the beach road and Calle Serrano concludes the improvement work carried out over the last two months. The water utility company, Aguas y Servicios, has replaced all the mains water pipes in the Las Palomas area for a wider pipe line of 250mm in PVC.
The replaced mains pipe runs from the water tank in Las Maravillas to Las Palomas. The work means that if there is a breakage or the tank needs cleaning out, it will not be necessary to cut the water supply.
The pipe line is of the same kind along the beach road which was laid during the pavement renovation work.
As for the tarmacking work, it covers a distance of 550 metres along the 6m-width of the said lane.
Editorial note: we often mention the Mancomunidad but haven’t explained who this entity is: the towns along the Costa Tropical and the Alpujarra pool financial resources to provide their common, water requirements and cover the cost of all infrastructure maintenance involved. The administrative body that handles this is called the Mancomunidad.
