First Movements on 7-Star Site

Work began towards the end of last month on the hillside where the 7-star hotel is planned, after the Town Hall gave the green light for geo-technical surveys; i.e., sinking bore holes for strata samples.

A-7 Confusion

The Province of Granada seems to be receiving one piece of bad news after another. First of all it was the negative from Brussels to route the Mediterranean rail-freight network via Costa Tropical, leaving Motril port without a rail connection, and then on the 26th of October, it was announced that the autovia construction between Taramay and Salobreña had seemingly ground to a halt.

Still No Rain

There has no been no rain to speak of in the whole of Granada, let alone its coast, in the last four months and the out-of-season, high temperatures are playing havoc with the chirimoya production.

Funds for The N-340

Anybody that has driven along the N-340 where it passes between La Herradura and the eastern entrance into Motril would be well aware of the state of the main road and grateful that funds have been allotted to make it both smoother and safer.

Tropico de Europa

The hoteliers have dug out an old term to put our section of the coast on the map, so to speak: Tropico de Europa. The problem with the term Costa Tropical is that many tourists immediately think of Central America, which is, admittedly, more logical.

Los Mateos Access Improved

The access lane to this hamlet in the north of the municipality of Almuñécar is having 104,000 euros spent on it. The first step is to widen it so that two cars can pass, and then secondly the surface will be tarmacked.

PSOE Flag Moan

The PSOE Town Hall spokesperson has called for the current administration to concentrate more on the job of governing and less on flags.

More Autovia News

A total of 30 construction companies are bidding for a juicy 45.7m-euro contract to build the Gorgoracha-Puntalón stretch of the A-7 Mediterranean autovia, which is not surprising, given the fact that major public works around the country have been cut drastically.

Almuñécar Hotel Branches Out

The owner(s) of Almuñécar’s Hotel Victoria Playa have purchased a plot of land on Playa Granada in Motril, quite close to Hotel Robinson, where they are going to build a 4-star hotel and multi-use centre.
