Illegal Surveillance Cameras

The Agencia Española de Protección de Datos has forced the Nerja Town Hall to take down CCTV cameras , which had been installed without the necessary permission in the Jefatura de la Policía Local, on avenida de Pescia

El Chucho Topped Up

On the 22nd of March the Nerja Town Hall approved a motion in a Plenary Meeting of the Town Council to send of a request to Demarcación de Costas de Andalucía Mediterráneo to have the town’s beaches sorted out, which had been badly damaged by winter gales, namely El Chucho.

Sewage Treatment Plant for Nerja

The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo (PP), announced that things could be moving, regarding the EDAR (Estación Depuradora de Aguas Residuales, or sewage treatment plant), which is about time as Nerja is just about the only town on the Costa del Sol that doesn’t have one. The budget amounts to 40.5m euros.

Slippery Chairman

An ex-chairman of the Urbanización Capistrano Playa de Nerja, (2006 to 2009) is serving time after being handed down a 4-year prison sentence for fraud, as part of a plea deal with the Public Prosecutor and private prosecution (Comunidad de Vecinos de Capistrano Playa).

Deadly Diving

A 37-year-old Portugues tourist lost his life after diving into the sea from a rocky outcrop in the Paseo de los Carbineros area in Nerja. The accident occurred around midday on Thursday the 24th of February, when the man, who was in the company of family and friends, decided that he would dive head first into the sea from a low rocky outcrop…

Torrox Art Exhibition

Local Torrox artist, Margaret Riordan has several new paintings on display at Taberna del Choto on Avda. de Competa in Torrox pueblo, and at the Axarquia Artists exhibition currently on display at the Tourist Information Office in Frigiliana, which has been extended until 25 February.
