It seems to be all the rage that every public administration from town halls up is announcing that their staff will not be receiving their Christmas bonus, so it should come as no surprise that the Nerja Town Hall has just announced this themselves.
At the Town Council Meeting it was also proposed that the municipal budget be adjusted so that the money not handed over should be added to the Social Action allotment. ‘so that it can be used to help struggling families in these difficult times.’
The motion underlined the fact that Spain is passing through the second biggest recession in its history, owing to the excesses of the past – Spain spend, in just one year, 90b euros more than it earnt, generating a 8.9% deficit in the PIB (Gross National Product), which was double the European average. All Spanish public administrations jointly owe 800b euros…
