Nerja Summer Perk Cut

The special summer hours for public office workers, which have been in force since 2006, have been cancelled by the Councillor for Personnel at the Nerja Town Hall.

This arrangement, which was in force during the second fortnight of June and the first fortnight of September, allowed workers to leave work at 14.00h, instead of 15.00h. This measure will now only apply to July and August.

This system, believe it or not, came into being because public offices lacked air conditioning – whatever did they do before it was invented, you might ask. However, just about every public office now enjoys aircon… and there is the little question of the present economical climate, of course, where such perks are frowned upon.
