Salobreña’s Tourism for Cyclists

The Salobreña Councillor for Tourism, Mari Carmen Callejón, announced the opening of the new, circular, cycle-tourism route called Ruta de las Frutas Tropicales.

This route covers around 22 kilometres, connecting the coast to the inland area of the municipality, passing through the vega, and connecting up with Lobres.

There are five information panels placed along the way with details about the flora and fauna. Furthermore, there are four maps setting out the entire route.

Cyclists won’t get lost because there are 52 signposts along the route and bicycle parking spaces. For those on electric bikes, there are charging points, and support stations positioned at strategic locations throughout the municipality.

It’s an easy route taking about two and a half hours by bicycle but it’s also for hikers so that visitors can take in the whole of the municipality from La Caleta and La Guardia, the town centre, the paseo, as well as the the banks of Río Guadalfeo, and the village of Lobres.

The Councillor explained, “Salobreña offers an ideal setting for cycling, and this new route allows us to expand our tourist offerings in the cycle-tourism sector, which is currently in high demand,” adding, “At the same time, it facilitates visits to our entire, natural environment.”

This project is financed by Munitur funds from the Junta’s Ministry of Tourism and aimed at  improving infrastructure in tourist municipalities across Andalucía, with a budget of approximately 62,000 euros.
