Whoopee!

Well, lastnight the minimum temperatures in the Valle de Lecrín were 18ºC/19C whilst down on the coast, they were between 23ºC/24ºC but by 16.00h both the Costa Tropical and the Valle will be enjoying temperature around 32ºC/33ºC.

Sunday, is going to continue along those lines: Coastal highs of 31ºC and lows of 24ºC and Valle highs of 33ºC and lows of 20ºC. Consistently, hower, Salobreña is one degree cooler than its two neighbours on either side.

by Tuesday next week things are heating up down on the coast with Motril leading the way with highs of 33ºC and lows of 24ºC whilst in the Valle de Lecrín will have highs of 36ºC and lows of 21ºC. Count yourself as lucky that you’re not living in Loja, which will reach 41ºC or around Granada Airport with its 40ºC. Only Ecíja in the province of Córdoba beats it with 42ºC.

Where’s the best place to spend Tuesday? Coruña with a minimum of 15ºC and a maximum of 21ºC

The Spanish Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet), issued an Orange warning for heat in Andalucía y Extremadura, explaining that a “powerful anticyclonic ridge is going to settle over Spain starting Thursday, which will lead to a massive heat focus like the Sahara over our this area. Thus, temperatures above 40ºC are expected to return. “

This is what meteorologist call a heat dome which forms when a strong, persistent high-pressure system parks itself over a region and acts as a lid, preventing cooler air from entering. The trapped air is compressed and heated up by the atmospheric pressure, causing continuous and severe temperature spikes.

Come back winter… all is forgiven!
