Let’s do the official Salobreña Town Hall communiqué first… The Maintenance Department has spruced up and repainted the large parking area next to the Vial Verde Playa,

Ok, that’s the swathe of cleared land running parallel with the beach, starting next to the Parque La Fuente. The parking area has a capacity of 300 vehicles, nine of which are handicapped parking bays and another 13 are for motorbikes.
The Councillor in charge of this department, Juan Francisco Gutierrez, explained that this parking area is to make up for the loss of parking along the seafront paseo.
He considers that it is close to the beach enough and therefore, just the ticket.
And now for the unofficial bit. Try dragging your wife, two kids, four beach chairs, a collapsable table, towels, a cool-box for the beach, a beach brolly, plus snacks and drinks… from there to the beach without murdering your offspring, a passerby or being murdered by them or simply slashing your wrists half way there.
As for the park & ride car facility next to the bus station, try getting all the aforementioned items, plus the family, onto the municipal bus which is a 20-odd seater, if you count the couch nailed to its roof.
In the meantime, the Town Council is bent upon the idea of making the whole of the seafront paseo into pedestrian-only access. Don’t get me started about the stupid lane that they installed during Covid and never took away, even though you can land a Boeing 747 on the pedestrian path on either side of the beach road.
