Fly-Tipping on Public Square

The Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, is not happy about the state of Plaza Cachalote, which somebody has turned into a builder's waste dump.

Not sure where that is? Well it’s in Santa Adela. Still no help? Its in the residential area behind the port.

Using her social-media channels, she complained about a lack of civic responsibility amongst some people, noting that the area has deteriorated significantly in just two months.

She said, that the square and other locations within Santa Adela are turning into “a literal dumping ground.” She pointed out that the accumulation of rubbish left outside of rubbish-collection areas give a negative impression of the neighbourhood.

“This is unacceptable,” she reiterated, asking whether this is the sort of environment that residents deserve.

Consequently, she encouraged people to report this type of behaviour, insisting that respecting the environment is “a form of respect toward one’s own neighbours. “

Editorial comment: although nobody can argue with the point she is making, it would be no stretch of the imagination to consider that if she was in the opposition instead of the driver’s seat, she would be accusing the governing party of incompetence.
