Bus Station Problems

The  Vice Secretary of the Almuñécar PSOE, Josué Díaz, criticised the “serious state of abandonment, deterioration, and lack of maintenance in the bus station.”

He went on to suggest doing something about it urgently, as it is “a gateway into the town,” and that first impressions are lasting impressions.

He said that after nearly 16 years of the Mayor’s party being in office, the station shows “an alarming image of neglect and a lack fo safety.”

“The state of this infrastructure is getting worse because absolutely nothing is being done,” he lamented.

He then went on to criticise the Mayor’s priorities: “They allocate hundreds of thousands of euros to beautify roundabouts with flashy decorative elements,” while not attending to the needs of the bus station.

So, consequently, the PSOE Vice-Secretary demands an urgent maintenance and improvement plan that includes thorough cleaning, repainting, damage repair, improved lighting, better accessibility and increased security.

The fact is the Mayor presented a project for a new bus station last year at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, which, according to the PSOE, “lacked credible funding and deadlines.”
