Damaged Street Lighting Repaired

Salobreña’s Public Works Department has been carrying out temporary repairs to public lighting on the TH1 – that’s the area between El Peñón and La Guardia.

The lighting system had been damaged in a fire a while back, resulting in about a dozen blackened lampposts along Cuesta Caracho.

Councillor Juan Francisco Gutiérrez said this had to be done now for public safety reasons, even though work was expected to begin soon on the widening of the lane that will link TH1 with La Guardia, including renewing all the public lighting in the area.

In fact, Councillor Gutiérrez pointed out that work continues on revamping the infrastructure for the entire public lighting system by replacing all old bulbs with new, more energy-efficient ones, which he says, will achieve savings in the municipal electricity bill for lighting by more than 88%.

We’re talking about all the lighting for the castle, both interior and exterior, as well as the Gambullón area; in other words, 105 light fixtures and 16 lighting pylons.
