La Herradura’s 5-Star

Almuñécar Town Hall has issued a building licence for the 5-star, Daia Slow Beach Hotel La Herradura on the Paseo de Andrés Segovia.

Around 20 years have passed since the idea for a hotel was launched on this land, which is arguably prone to flooding.

The hotel project has a budget of 14-millon euros and will create, according to the hotel chain and the Mayor, over 100 jobs.

Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, considers that this luxury hotel, which will have 220 rooms, would make the village a “luxury reference point along the Costa Tropical,” adding, “We said that we would get to work and unblock stalled projects that have been collecting dust in a drawer for decades; here’s the result!”

The building licence establishes a construction period of no more than 36 months. Let’s see.

Editorial comment: talking of decade-long, stalled projects… what about the demolition of the monstrosity at the entrance to town, up from the Guardia Civil post?

Isn’t that skeletal monstrosity owned by either an ex councillor or in some way connected to ” friends in high places locally”. So when ordered to take down the semi building. Just ignores the judgement.
Bit like the building of a house too many floors high. Opposite the Penon. They did eventually take the top floor down. But it’s more of a top patio now. Above a garage , opposite a well known Penon restaurant. Again like the restaurant. Friends in high places. Laws. Only for the lower person’s. Thing is those in power can literally do what they want. Remains of the Franco regime I guess.
