There were two accidents on Sierra Nevada last weekend, happening almost simultaneously and requiring the assistance of the Guardia Civil Mountain Rescue Team (Greim).
The first accident was the result of a skier going off-piste near Pradollano and then suffering a fall, knocking her unconscious. This occurred around 17.00h on Saturday, involving a 52-year-old woman. Witnesses to the accident phoned it in. She was stretchered down to a waiting ambulance.

Just minutes afterwards, an avalanche in Puerto de las Albardas near the Picón de Jérez refuge surprised seven skiers belonging to a cross-country-skiing outing .
One of them, a 55-year-old man, who suffered chest injuries, was in a lot of pain. He had tried to walk and was wary that he might have fractured ribs and so called for help.
A 5-mean team went to his rescue and took him to the above-mentioned, mountain refuge. One of the officers held a nursing degree and treated him on-site. Emergency evacuation was not necessary, and he was able to spend the night there.
