Let's see what happens this weekend because last weekend was a busy one for the Guardia Civil, mountain-rescue teams.
The rescue team came to the aid of a total of six people over the course of last weekend with the first rescue taking place on Saturday around noon within the municipality of Trevélez.

The second rescue was carried out immediately afterward, this time in the municipality of Dílar. Finally, the third rescue was reported on Sunday, also around noon in the area of Mecina Bombarón in the Alpujarra.
All three rescues required the deployment not only of the Guardia Civil’s Mountain-Rescue teams but also of the Guardia Civil’s helicopter based in Granada.
In the first case, two hikers were in the Siete Lagunas area of Trevélez who requested assistance; they were unable to continue their route because they had lost their crampons, preventing them from making progress on the hard snow.
The GREIM (Mountain Rescue) flew out and located the hikers, picked them up and flew them to where they had left their vehicles. Medical assistance was not required on this occasion.
About two hours later, three mountaineers found themselves stranded on a rocky outcrop on the Cresta de los Tajos de la Virgen in the Sierra Nevada, (municipality of Dílar.) The GREIM again flew out and soon found the mountaineers, the helicopter pilot landed nearby and the team proceded on foot, reaching the stranded climbers, and guided them back to the helicopter. The were flown to the Virgen de las Nieves area. From there, they continued on their own to their vehicle.
On Sunday, a third rescue involved a hiker who had fallen whilst walking along the Río Mecina trail, in the (Mecina Bombarón) and found herself unable to continue because of a possible leg fracture. Specialists from the GREIM flew out to her approximate location and soon found the injured woman. The flew her to the PTS Hospital in Granada, where she was treated for her injury.
But it wasn’t over, even though the weekend was, because on Monday, officers assisted a climber in Alfacar who had suffered an accident. The officers were heading to the area to conduct drone-flight training when they spotted a woman climbing one of the walls of the Canteras quarries. At that moment, they saw her fall from a height of approximately 20 metres.
The officers from the GREIM came to her aid while immediately alerting the emergency medical services. The team immobilised her until the paramedics arrived and then carried her about 30 metres on a stretcher to the ambulance, which transported her to the hospital.
