The early hours of this morning saw several, parked cars destroyed by flames in Cenes de La Vega.
A local had reported that there was a car on fire near his house yet the emergency services had to deal seven parked vehicles in different areas of the town, all on fire.

One of the incidents was actually in front of the Town Hall and on the Avenida de Sierra Nevada four cars had been completely destroyed by fire in a parking area.
More or less at the same time as the two incidents mentioned above, two vehicles were written off by flames on Calle María Uceda Díaz. But it didn’t end there because behind one of the main gasolineras in town another car had gone up in flames, again around the same time.
The city of Granada fire service were called out to deal with the burning cars, assisted in the handling of the incidents by the Policía Local and the Guardia Civil.
Later that morning the Mayor of Cenes de La Vega, Montserrat Muñoz, had a telephone meeting with the Subdelegación del Gobierno in order to set up a Junta Municipal de Seguridad so that the facts could be studied.
“It’s the first time that this has happened here. Cenes de La Vega is not a conflictive town and locals should not worry as police presence has been stepped up,” explained the Mayor.
