A driver in his mid-40s lost his life in an accident within the municipality of Alhama de Granada yesterday.

An eyewitness phoned in to the emergency coordination centre to report the accident around 15.10h, saying that a car had left the road and hit a tree near kilometre point 14 on the A-4155, which is the back road that connects Alhama de Granada with Salar. The driver was trapped inside.

The coordination centre despatched an ambulance, the fire service and the Guardia Civil de Tráfico.

Upon arrival, the fire personnel and police officers confirmed that the 44-year-old driver was trapped within the car and the paramedics confirmed that he was dead.
