A man in his mid 60s died in a road accident in La Caleta (Salobreña) after his motorbike collided with a lampost.

The accident occured Sunday evening at 22.09h. However, reports are contradictory as one sources says that it occurred in a narrow street, whilst another on the road between La Guardia and the old La Azucarera del Guadalfeo.

Whichever the case, a passerby found the 66-year-old man lying next to a lampost, according to the emergency coordination centre, 112.

The Guardia Civil, Policía Local and an ambulance were despatched only to find that the bike rider was dead.

The victim, Manolo, was very well known in the village and had recently retired.
