The Guardia Civil arrested a driver who knocked over and killed an officer belonging to the Policia Nacional in Valencia on a motorbike .
The 33-year-old officer, who worked in the Inspección Central de Guardia (Police HQ at Zapadores), had just finished his shift and was heading home on the AP-7 when he was rammed by the driver.
The arrested man was found to be three times over the limit in alcohol consumption and had consumed drugs.
The 33-year-old victim, Ivan M., died instantly in the collision. His parents were informed at 03.30h by the Coordinadora de Servicio that their son had been killed in a road accident. His brother, who was in Rome when the news reached him, immediately returned home to be with their parents.
The driver faces charges of reckless homicide and DUI.
