Nerja's plan to have a modern library on the Balcón de Europa is one step closer with four companies entering bids, one of which is from Nerja.

The library, to be exact, will be at Calle Iglesia Nº1, next to the Balcón de Europa and will have a budget of 1,687,0004 euros.

The project is co-financed by the Provincial Council of Málaga, with the 687,004 euros coming from the municipal coffers; in other words, the Provincial Council has supplied a grant of one million euros for the project.

Mayor José Alberto Armijo (PP) pointed out that when it was put up for tender in the first round, nobody came forward, but in this second round, there have been these four contenders.

The new library will have a total surface area of 800 sq/m over three floors and two basement levels. It will also have an outside terrace with sea views.
