Salvamento Marítimo and the Guardia Civil rescued two people in kayaks Thursday night some way off the coast of Motril.
One of them was actually in the water and was having breathing difficulties and also had trouble staying afloat due to hypothermia despite wearing a life jacket.
Salvamento Marítimo sent out a helicopter (Helimer 205) from Almería, which was able to located them, and winched aboard the one in the water and flew him to Almería Airport, arriving at 22.27h, where an ambulance was waiting.
A Guardia Civil launch took care of the kayaks and the other person, taking him to Motril Port.
