A Granada law court will try a teacher for sitting on an examination board knowing that his girlfriend was amongst those sitting the exam... he kept it quiet.

The trial will be held on the 30th of this month to judge the circumstances of the examination process at IES Alhambra in the city of Granada on the 24th of June, 2017.

The accused was a member of the examining tribunal for foreign languages (English) even though he was preparing his girlfriend to sit the exam. He had signed a statement beforehand to say that there were no circumstances that would disqualify him for sitting on the examining board.

The Public Prosecutor accuses him of hiding his relation with the examinee, which would have automatically disqualified him from the process and had resulted in lying on an official document, which could get him a 4-year jail sentence.

Furthermore, if found guilty, he would also have to pay a fine of 5,400 euros.

Editorial comment: no mention of being barred from holding his present post, of course.
