A 25-year-old patient ran off from hospital without being discharged, steals a small refrigerated lorry, comes across a routine police road-check and tries to run over one of the officers.

He then tries to escape by driving the wrong way down Avenida de Andalucía in the city of Granada, pursued not only by the Policía Local, but by now, the Guardia Civil and the Policía Nacional.

When he got to Mercagranada, he rammed a police van and then a municipal bus. Not content, he drove on. The police finally cornered him and arrested him. They then returned him to hospital but under police custody.

All this happened in the centre of Granada during rush hour on Thursday.

Editorial comment: admittedly, it can get quite boring in hospital waiting to be discharged.
