La Herradura Blues Fest

The Primer Festival Internacional de Blues de La Herradura, which was held on the Plaza de la Dependencia was a great success, drawing a crowd of around 8,000.

Artists who performed were Johnny Big Stone & the Blues Workers, Wax & Boogie – Rhythm & Blues Projects, Greg Izor, The Blue Stompers Jump Review, Beiztegui Blues Band, Tia Carroll and Ghalia Volt.

The Costa Tropical has long offered a top-rate Jazz festival (Jazz en La Costa) which is now joined by what will soon become an equally established and successful Blues festival.

Culturally speaking, summer on the Costa Tropical has become synonymous with top-rate musical festivals, from Salobreña’s Tendencias to La Herradura’s Blues Festival as well as rock concerts in Motril.

According to the Mayor of Almuñécar, Juan José Joya (PP) and the First Councillor for La Herradura, Daniel Barbero (PP), Almuñécar Town Hall, the Autoridad Portuaria Chaired by a José García Fuentes (PP) and the Mancomunidad, chaired by Rafael Caballero (PP), were fundamental in the success of the festival.

“The implication of administrations is of utmost importance for developing these kinds of events, which impact social-economic and tourism development in the area,” said the Mayor.

There was no mention of the private initiative and organisation behind the success of the festival, so we would like to congratulate them here. Enhorabuena Kevin Hillier and co!
