The Audiencia Provincial de Granada (Provincial Law Court) has acquitted the Mayor of Lanjarón, Eric Escobedo (PP), of prevaricación administrativa.

Prevaricación administrativa, in this context, means that he was accused of making an arbitrary decision with the knowledge that it is unfair. He was also acquitted of the misuse of public funds (from traffic fines) and influence peddling.

He had originally come before a public hearing in the Órgiva law court, together with the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Juan Manuel Jiménez, who was also acquitted by the provincial law court.

These acquittals came about after the Public Prosecutor presented a provisional conclusion recommending that the charges be dropped.
