Reader: Almuñécar Market

A reader says that there might be problems with Almuñécar's municipal-market construction.

ALM Municipal Market under Construction DC23There is a rumour that the Almuñécar public market is going to be delayed indefinitely due to a dispute about the construction company demanding a great deal more money to be able to continue working on it.

Supposedly because of problems obtaining materials has gone through the roof.

From the start it was bound to fail….alarm bells went off before it started and everyone ignored them or maybe benefited from it…no crying now and blaming Ukraine or any other kind of disaster….Almuñécar has gone done hill….faster than Max Verstappen could ever go…

And to think the Aldi went up in less than a year from start to finish

Yes, the problem is the rise in the price of materials. This project was approved and the budget set about two and a half years ago but what with the energy crisis, Ukraine and a number of other factors, prices have soared.

The Town Hall is finalising the 2024 budget so there will be more funds to allow for this escalation in prices, hopefully, and work will recommence.
