Almuñécar Town Hall has handed over a plot of public land to the entity that handles government-subsidised housing, Visogsa.
The said plot, 3,860 sq/m in extension, is along the southern side of Calle Callejón de Hurtado, more or less next to the Medical Centre and Río Verde. This is the plot of land where they set up the Fería del Día this summer past.
The housing that will be erected there will be VPOs (Viviendas de Protección Oficial) which will be destined as rentals for young couples, resident in Almuñécar.
The 100 apartments will be situated in three blocks of flats, which should be ready for occupation by 2026.
The Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya explained that one of his party’s electoral pledges was to provide “housing for young people and the most needy.”
The Mayor promised that these new houses will be just the forerunners of many more to come.
