Salobreña Blues is taking place this Saturday, the 14th, at the Auditorio Villa de Salobreña José Martín Recuerda.
The festival, Blues de Caña, has been organised by La Ruta del Vino, who chose the festival’s name to highlight the town’s sugar-industry past. Sugar cane was the main agricultural crop from the late 19th Century to the beginning of the 21st.
The promotor behind the festival, José Luis Palomares, says that Salobreña has a considerable Blues following amongst the population, which goes back quite some way.
He points out that this kind of music has strong ties with the sugar-cane agriculture, both in the USA, where it came from, and in the province of Granada and the Axarquía Malagueña.
The concert begins at 21.00h with a performances by the Iñaki Moreno Tríos, Andy Cortés Blues Band and Rambling J. Gates,.
The entrance price is ten euros and tickets can be obtained at the Casa de la Cultura and La Oficina de Turismo. Failing that, you can purchase one at the door for 15 euros, starting an hour before the concert begins.

Our information came from Salobreña Turismo through a Town Hall Press release. Their website states 21.00h, as does that of Radio Salobreña and other sources. However, there are two posters and one says 20.00h and the other 21.00h. Sorry, Folks, but we’re glad somebody spotted the mistake. How did it go, by the way?
If one had bought tickets before the event then of course one would know the correct time was 20 horas. But, the on-line publicity as per the example above, clearly shows 21 horas.
Salobreña’s online cultural program announcement for October said and still says the concert starts at 21:00. Mistakes happen, but what is unforgivable and a bit of an own goal is the organiser refusing to give a price rebate to the large group which arrived for the 9 pm version. So we all left.
Tickets say 20.00
