The Bomberos de Motril are working to put out a fire within the port area, after calls came in around 18.00h reporting a column of dense smoke.

It looks like the fire is situated at the Azucena Dock area after a pile of scrap, ready to be exported, caught on fire – how is still not clear.

Sources at the Port Authorities say that the fire is already out and the fire personnel are dampening down the ashes, etc, so that it does not reignite.

The column of smoke is clearly visible from Salobreña, Motril and Torrenueva Costa.
