Salobreña Spring Cleans Parks

Now that the worst of winter has passed, the passion-flower plants in the municipal gardens will be removed and replaced with plants and flowers for the coming warmer times.

In total, the municipal gardeners will use some 600 flowering plants, which they hope will be enough to cover the needs of the parks and gardens but they will acquire more if needs be.

The ones that will be planted are Callistemo (Callistemon), Magnolias, Begoñas (Begonias), Petunias, Adelfas (Oleander), and Alyssum, which will be accompanied by aromatic shrubs such as Lavender and Sage.

At the moment they are working on the steps up to the castle, the Paseo de las Flores, the Plaza del Mar, and will eventually work their way to Lobres and La Caleta-La Guardia.

Councillor Luis Cano pointed out that in the Parque Municipal de La Fuente they are overhauling the kiosk, which has been out of use for years. Inside they are rewiring whilst carpenters are working on the exterior and interior of the structure. The work has a budget of 50,000 euros and the councillor expects work to be finished and put up for lease before the summer to somebody from Salobreña.
