Caught Stealing from Orchards

The Guardia Civil nabbed a man in the act of stealing 200 kilos of avocados, mangos and custard apples from a plantation within the municipality of Salobreña .

SAL Avocados on a TreeTwo guardas de campo (a sort of rural security guards) discovered the 61-year-old suspect loading his stolen booty. The man has no previous arrests.

When the police officers arrved, they found that he had already loaded about 100 kilos of stolen fruit. There were also several large sacks containing a total of 57 kilos of avocados and 43 kilos of custard apples ready to be loaded

The arrest took place around 21.30h on the 16th of this month on a plantation within the area known as the Pago de Mijas.

Asking the owners of nearby land who the owner of the trees was, they managed to contact him so that he could go to the Guardia Civil post the next day and present “una dencucia.” The stolen fruit was also returned to him.
