The Almuñécar Councillor for Public Works, Beatriz González, met on site with engineers from the company that is going to build the new municipal Market.
Yesterday morning the company surveyors meticulously took the measurements of the crater so that all would be ready when the construction work begins, which will take twelve months to complete.
Eighty percent of the market’s surface area will be on one floor, which will include shops or gourmet stands along the sides. It will be a modern, open (i.e., a natural-light layout) with glass walls, which, the Town Hall claims, will fit in perfectly with its surroundings. There will also be space for 200 parking spaces.
Councillor Beatriz González, who is the acting Mayor at the moment, says that she is very satisfied and pointed out the importance of being able to carry out the pledge made before the citizens of Almuñécar.
Councillor Beatriz González has not always held this opinion, however

Patrick: the old market’s two level, underground car park has more than 200 spaces… and the Mayor (Herrera) closed it down in 2012.
Wow. Ready in a year.!! It’s been standing and closed for how long. ??
Glass walls.!! That will be nice in the summer. Thank the gods for air con. !!
Look she’s a politician first and foremost. Pledges/promises are only as long as your nose. !
