An Almuñécar branch of the Cs, accuses the Mayor of having turned her back on the wishes of the Almuequeros over Municipal Market plans.
Party Coordinator, Beatriz González Orce, said that after the draft project for the viability study on the municipal market was approved during the Plenary Meeting on the 26th of April, the period to present propositions for amendments was opened.
However, not one of the propositions put forward by the different political parties or private citizens was accepted; all were rejected by the Mayor’s party – all 59 propositions.
After pushing for the maximum citizen input in the project, Sra. González considers it lamentable that los Almuñequeros have wasted their time, it appears.
Finally, she pointed out that the project that the PP presented during their last election campaign had absolutely no mention of a large-surface supermarket and much less a new building comprising of three floors.
In the meantime, ex-Mayor, Juan Carlos Benavides, has been making press statements himself concerning the blanket rejection of all project proposals submitted.
He also considers that the only reason that the PP are ploughing ahead with the idea of demolishing the existing market is because the large-surface supermarket won’t fit within it and they have aready signed an agreement with somebody over it.
He slammed the Mayor for rejecting the 3,000-signature petition that his party had collected from stallholders, local businesses and residents alike, as well as from politicians from other politicial parties including the PSOE, Cs and his own party.
