The Salobreña branch of Más Costa Tropical has criticised the governing party of its "lack of interest" on the functioning of essential services.
This opposition party was referring to the Tourist Information Office, which has not been attending to tourists owing to the office having been closed all of summer, and now the castle is closed, too.
Despite, they claim, the fact that Salobreña was awarded by the Junta de Andalucía the recognition as a Municipio Turístico, the tourist office remains inaccessible to visitors and townsfolk alike
In the opinion of Spokesman for Más Costa Tropical Salobreña, Juan Collado Flores, the governing party has yet again demonstrated that they have little interest in tourists coming to town yet the Mayor and her team constantly like to appear in newspapers praising themselves.

Lynne: probably because there have been more rocks coming down from the fissure under the castle. Experts are monitoring the stability of the foundations and there a bit concerned.
We moved to Salobreña 2 years ago and have had many friends visit. We always take them up to the castle. (Taxi up-taxi driver makes money, visit castle, walk down and have a meal-restaurant makes money, walk in town-stores make money…) why in heavens name would the town close the castle during tourist season??
The Tourist Office never seems to have any custom. I guess due to its awful opening or not opening times.
The Castle had an event on Friday Evening. Maybe a closed shop event.
Shame if the Castle is closed during the height of the tourist season.
Grants any one. !!??
