Two Possible Drowning Deaths

It's worth pointing out that just because somebody died in the water; be it the sea or a pool, the cause of death might not be from drowning; hence the use of "possible."

AND Rescue Helicopter Air Ambulance, Los Genoveses San Jose 400x250The body of a 59-year-old man was recovered from Playa Genoveses (San José, Almeria) yesterday. Two days earlier a 64-year-old man died in a hostal swimming pool in Carmona (Sevilla).

It was a family member of the pool incident who phoned 112 at 18.47h to say that the victim was lying at the bottom of the establishment’s pool. An ambulance was immediately sent, together with police units, both Policía Local and the Guardia Civil. Even the fire service were sent to help.

It was already to late, despite attempts at CPR procedure to try and revive him. Whether he was pulled out of the pool by the said family member or by the hostal staff, was not included by the 112 press release.

As for the incident in San José, the emergency call centre received an alert at 11.00h from a beach user who had pulled the victim out of the sea. Again those present applied the CPR procedure on the victim but did not manage to bring him round or even establish a pulse.

On this occasion 112 sent a rescue helicopter to the beach, as well as Protección Civil.
