Salobreña's Policía Local have recruited an abandoned dog into their canine unit, 'Ucan.'
Nube, the Belgian Shepherd, (Malinois), had been left on a roadside by her previous owner but that proved to be the beginning of a much happier life as police dog, now that her training has concluded.
She joins, Linda, who has been with the municipal police since 2019 and is a German Shepherd, performing drug-detection duties.
Nube, who is 7-months old, had been dumped off on the N-340 where it passes through Salobreña. A family retrieved her and took her to the municipal police station.
She showed just the right aptitudes to become a police dog. Her first stop, though, was at the vets and after that, training could begin.
The Councillor for Citizen Safety (the civilian head of the municipal police) Angela Rodríguez, was accompanied by members of SOS Animales Salobreña, who have the task of taking in strays, during the presentation of the new member of Ucan before the press.
