La Herradura Gourmet Market

A flock of politicians descended upon La Herradura municipal market one Friday last month to check out the work on its new look.

The new look in question is the Mercado Gourmet, which will include, Centro de Interpretación Turística – another way of saying tourist-information centre

Amongst representatives from the Town Council were Daniel Barbero and Juan José Ruiz Joya; the former the Councillor for Tourism and the latter the de-facto, First Councillor of the village.

The renovation of the building – known in the architecutre world by the latin term, Tartum Upus – will cost 150,000 euros, 100,000 of which was a grant from the Junta, whilst the Town Council provided the remaining 50,000 euros.

Councillor Daniel Barbero praised the Junta (which just happens to be run by his own party) , saying, “at last and thanks to funding from the Junta… …we’re going to have a very special municipal market and tourist office.”

The new gourmet-style market should be open and functioning before the arrival of summer.

Editorial comment: In short, both politicians repeatedly praised how wonderful the Junta was until their eyes bled, leaving you with the suspicion that had another party other than their own been in power in the Junta, their praise might not have been quite so effusive.
