A young woman had to be rescued yesterday in Salobreña after she fell off the top of the Peñon into the sea.

Her plunge into the sea was entirely unintentional, as she was fully clothed. She ended up about 60 metres from the Playa de La Guardia and was brought ashore by several bathers.

The Policía Local and an ambulance soon arrived receiving calls from witnesses around 14.30h.

The Ambulance took her to the roundabout on the other side of the main road where an air ambulance from Málaga was waiting

The victim, who was conscious all the time, was flown to Hospital Virgen de La Nieves (Traumatología) in Granada.
