It appears that the two high-schools in Almuñécar are not happy bunnies over the decision to give IES Puerta del Mar a high-school level curriculum.
The reason why is that it means that IES Al Ándalus and IES Antigua Sexi will lose resources and pupils to the new kid on the block, which is situated on the P-4.
“Nobody understands how Granada has given the green light for this, despite the opposition from two thirds of the education community in Almuñécar,” explained the Mayor, Trinidad Herrera.
She went on to say that it would have been better had the provincial educational authorities offered IES Puerta del Mar other much sought-after bachelorship degrees in areas not covered by the other two municipal high schools; ones that Almuñécar students have to travel to Motril every school day to be able to attend.
Both the teaching staff and the parents’ association at Al Ándalus and Antigua Sexi feel outraged and ignored by this decision, claims the Mayor.
